16 parties participate in European Parliament election 2019
On 23 May 2019 16 parties and 308 candidates will participate in the elections for the Dutch members of the European Parliament. This was announced by the Dutch Electoral Council (Kiesraad), acting as central electoral committee, in a public session on Monday, 15 April. Furthermore, all lists have been numbered.
The following lists of candidates have been declared valid and are numbered in the following order by the Electoral Council:
- Democraten 66 (D66)
- CDA - Europese Volkspartij
- PVV (Partij voor de Vrijheid)
- VVD
- SP (Socialistische Partij)
- P.v.d.A./Europese Sociaaldemocraten
- ChristenUnie-SGP
- GROENLINKS
- Partij voor de Dieren

On the 16 lists of candidates (in 2014 19 lists were submitted) there are 308 candidates in total - in 2014 there were 345 candidates.The list of the 'ChristenUnie-SGP' contains the largest number of candidates: 30. The list of 'JEZUS LEEFT' the smallest number of candidates: 3.
